Illustration Friday: Tales & Legends

Not only does the Bird of Paradise cut a mean rug, but legend has it that if a human is caught in the forests of Papua New Guinea during a monsoon they will obligingly fluff their feathers to form a beautifully enchanting umbrella.

Check out a Bird of Paradise shake its tail feathers!

Very nice. I like the pattern/texture and flat areas contrasting each other. The colors are lovely to look at, too.

Oh, how gallant it is for the bird to provide himself as an enchanting umbrella for the girl! Beautiful illustration, the colors are splendid, it feels magical all over :)
*I used to wait in transit for several hours in Irian Jaya. I wish I have known about this story then, it would make staring at the rain a lot more interesting … dreaming up of enchanting umbrellas and all :)
