Dog Lover Blog Award

The very talented Monica gave me this very lovely award which was created by Eunice Rosado of This Nice Dog.

I would have passed it on to Kathleen Rietz and Alicia Padron, but Monica has bestowed the doggie award on them already. So I shall pass the award to Mika and Eslina and hope they have yet to receive it. :)

Brilliante Weblog

Due to my utter laziness I am just now posting the lovely award I received from Carli, Monica, Ratlion and Gaia.

Here are the rules:
Put the logo on your blog
Add a link to the person who awarded you
Nominate at least 7 other blogs
Add links to those blogs on yours
Leave a message for your nominees on their blogs.

Unfortunately, because I behaved like the lazy grasshopper it appears EVERYONE has received the award :(

On the other hand if you want to read a funny post about the award (and see a cute award with eyes) visit Mike R Baker!

You Make My Day

I received the "You Make My Day" award from the amazingly talented Kelly Medina which, in turn, made my day! I compare it to winning the Blue Ribbon for best chili in all of Texas contest (and if you know anything about Texas that there is a big deal)!

"You make my day-Award" works like this:
1. Write a post with links to 5 blogs that make me think and/or make my day.
2. Acknowledge the post of the award giver.
3. Display the "You Make my Day Award" logo with a link to the post that I wrote. (Optional)
4. Tell the award winners that they have won by commenting on their blogs with the news.

My list of bloggers that make my day:
Tina Kugler (check out Tina's post-it note theatre --- it is hilarious!)
Elisa Chavarri (the most beautiful mermaid illo's ever)
Nacho Gomez (enchanting and ethereal illo's)
Alisa Haggard (oh my, such cute and lovely illo's)
Gaia (the tiniest & sweetest miniature creatures)

I could go on and on here as I have an ever growing list of blogs I love to visit --- perhaps in another post! :)

Commenting on Blogs

If you notice the cute l'il monster on my side bar it was made by the very talented Nacho Gomez. If you would like to display one on your site please go to his blog and download your own. I thought it was a cute and clever idea!

Isabella Kirkland

Did anyone check out this article in the NY Times today? Really incredible artwork by Isabella Kirkland. From the Times:

"The six paintings, each of which took about a year to create, memorialize species that have vanished from the planet during the ascent of humans; those that are finding new niches as humans spread plants and animals around the globe; those collected or harvested illegally or too aggressively; American species in decline; and — most hopefully — animals and plants that were thought to be extinct, or on the brink of vanishing, but have come back."

For anyone who cares about the environment and the plight of animals this is really an amazing body of work.
