Peggy, the small pit bull mix was frozen in fear as she waited for the mean caretaker at the no-kill shelter to decide whether she had the right to live or die.
Unfortunately this is a real dog at my local NO-KILL shelter. The man in charge of the dogs is a male chauvinist who cares very little for the dogs and the President of the shelter does nothing but stand by this idiot. I have been absolutely horrified and devastated by the actions of this shelter; or should I say the non-actions with regard to the dogs in their care.

I love dog illustrations! Love this, of course, with the snow on his back. :)
I'm sorry about the mean shelter guy. That is horrible. Your illustration is really good, though.
Well done art, although her story makes me sad. :( I hope she lives.
I always thought PitBulls are the terror of the lot. But she's a gentle pup it seems. I hope she lives! Thanks for sharing :)
I feel so bad for that poor pup!...your illustration is gorgeous, you really captured her fear. nice job!
Ohh no.. :( that's terrible. You have a gorgeous style though. Hope your dog is ok...
thats soooo sad. the story that is. i hate hearing of such things. but, the illustration is great!
I am heartbroken after reading that.
I know you're a sensitive person, I'm glad to see you using your art to help communicate what's going on.
The piece is lovely, and sad. We all know what the tail between the legs means.
