Blind contour drawing that I then went back to fill in some details (like her brindle markings) done with a conte crayon.
Blind contour drawings of my dog, Georgia, done with a woodless pencil.
I'm participating in a challenge that I read on
Alicia Padron's blog. As I am rather lazy when it comes to posting this will be the ultimate challenge for me.

Nice! :)
Wow, I haven't used a conte crayon since my first year in collage ('92). Just looked at my pencil box and I have a few pieces of one (messy sucker, isn't it?). Will have to try it during this challenge.
And, you have to post now. With this first one, you have set the rest of us up to want to come back each day to see what's new! :)
Both are lovely. I like the POV from behind your pooch - a much more interesting pose for a skinny whippet than a 'meatier' dog might be.
nice illustrations...what fun this exercise is turning out to be....
Wow these are great Sheree! The lines are perfect..Georgeous! So by blind contour you mean skecthing wthout seeing the page? Or is concentrating on the contour only?
Greyhounds (as well as whippets) are so fun to sketch right? They have perfectly smooth and lean bodies, we can see the beautiful contour so easily plus they are always sleeping so they are the perfect art models! :o)
These are great! So light and precise - beautiful.
thanks everyone. :)
yes, Alicia, sketching without looking at the paper. I usually don't lift the pencil but in some cases i did as Georgia would move her head if she thought you were headed towards the kitchen. I find it easy to draw her after she has eaten b/c she likes to sleep after a good meal. :)
Wow, Sheree, these are really wonderful! I've tried contour drawing before, but mine really look like I'm not looking at the paper! :-) But this is a great idea, and I'll do that for one of the creative days.
Lovely drawings of your dog, the looseness makes it so fresh and beautiful!
I'm impressed Sheree. I like your line work, it's very expressive.
Wow, great!! I love these ones.I love the animal´s sketches and I know its very dificult . You¨ve done a good work, the lines , the experesion...very fresh.
You have a lovely dog! Like how the lines are so simple, and yet convey so much.
